On August 9, 2010, the former Johnson Recreation Center became the Colorado
Miners Community Center (CMCC).
We are located at 4809 Race St. in the Elyria neighborhood. While CMCC will provide
many opportunities for both the neighborhood and the Colorado Miners, our goals are
to:
- Bring the community together by providing recreational activities that promote healthy
lifestyles for youth, adults and seniors…community outreach.
- Partner with other community organizations that share a similar vision as ours.
- Rejuvenate declining use facilities into productive facilities…restore pride.
- Become the facility of choice…offer wellness services that meet the needs of
patrons.
- Provide employment opportunities…stimulate local economy.
Some of our services:
Recreation center usage – Provide a safe and enjoyable place for our youth to gather.
Wellness center usage – Offer a health and wellness outlet for those who wish to
improve their mind and body.
Clubs/Activities – Martial Arts/Boxing, Dance, Music (lessons and tutoring), Seniors
Programs (Silver Sneakers), Colorado Miners Chess Club...to name a few.
Facility rental – With access to multiple spaces and a fully stocked kitchen, we will
rent out CMCC for your party/celebration, social/community gathering, or business
function.
Academic support – We provide study hall for those who have homework to complete
or need tutoring to improve their performance in the classroom.
Snack time – We provide healthy snacks for our youth Monday thru Friday, every week,
between the end of the school day and dinner time.
